The title of the first HEdIS Summer School is finally set: “Innovative IoT for Sustainable Citizens”. We are excited to announce that the Summer School will run from November 20th to 4th of December, with face-to-face lectures and workshops taking place from November 23rd to 29th at Nelson Mandela University, in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The HEdIS workshop started with presentations on sustainability research projects at the Oldenburg University. This week the VLBA department hosted the 1st HEdIS workshop at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. Starting with a pre-workshop on Monday, discussing topics such as establishing stakeholder needs, module participant profiles, defining the various definitions for sustainability, determining stakeholder roles, and defining the projects learning platform. Dumisani and Martin present their PhD topics

On Wednesday 21st June Dumi and Martin presented their PhD topics at VLBA department (University of Oldenburg). Dumisani Nyumbeka is a 2nd year PhD student at the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth. His PhD research focuses on creating a scheduling model for the charging of electric vehicles using photovoltaic (PV) powered smart microgrids.
