Reactions of the 1st HEdIS Summer School in Port Elizabeth, South Africa
In the frame of the DAAD and BMZ sponsored project HEdIS, the 1st HEdIS Summer School “IoT for Sustainable Citizens” took place from 22nd to 30th November 2017. The Summer School was organized and run in partnership with the Nelson Mandela University (NMU, Port Elizabeth), the University of Cape Town (UCT, Cape Town) and the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg (UOL, Oldenburg), at the NMU Embizweni Building on the South Campus in Port Elizabeth.
Approx. 65 people, from the academia, research institutes and the industry, attended the Summer School. The HEdIS partners (university and industry) provided experts, who were in charge on content, practical and discussion sessions about the main topics handled the Summer School. These were:
- IoT Management
- Water Management
- Sustainable Mobility
- Energy Efficiency.
PhD students also had the opportunity to present their current research status at the Post graduate Research Poster Session in order to create debates and gain input for their academic work development.
The summer school was a great success thanks to the high number of participants, but also thanks to their active contributions.
