Insights into YEEES Idea Jam
Ten African and German students participated in the YEEES Idea Jam, a LAB on sustainability oriented entrepreneurial solutions at Leuphana University Lüneburg, Germany, from 22 January to 9 February 2018. The research project YEEES, an abbreviation for Yields of Evocative Entrepreneurial approaches on Environment and Society, is a collaboration of the German universities Leuphana University and Oldenburg University – at the department for Business Information Systems – , and the African universities Nelson Mandela University, University of Namibia and Universidade Pedagogica Moçambique.
In the YEEES Idea Jam, students worked in international teams on ICT based innovative social and ecological entrepreneurial solutions. Developing skills and mindsets that lead to entrepreneurial behaviour for creative and innovative solutions was the aim of the three week program, and that is what the project YEEES is about. It, therefore, aligns with the Hub for Education on ICT for Sustainability, abbreviated as HEdIS, also, as it enhances German-African exchange and cooperation. For that reason, and because our second Summer School will focus on the theme Entrepreneurship, we visited the YEEES Idea Jam, learned from their experience and introduced the participants to the project Hub for Education on ICT for Sustainability.
