Artombo present at the 1st HEdIS Summer School
Artombo was also present at the 1st HEdIS Summer School. Artombo is a cultural project which offers art workshops for children and young people from communities surrounding Port Elizabeth. It aimed at providing high quality art classes to learners who would otherwise not have the opportunity. In addition to art skills, they learners are taught various life skills through the process. It is a continuing project which started as a results of an initial combined DAAD sponsored research project between NMU Computing Sciences department and colleagues from German universities, such as the Computing Sciences department at the University of Oldenburg.
During the HEdIS Summer School the project had the opportunity of displaying some of the Artombo kids amazing drawings. This also gave the opportunity to the participants (students and industrial partners) to contribute to the labour of this artistic children.
